Game Modes

In this page we explain the basics and the rules for 5 Game Modes.

The Basics

Things to know before things get hot!

  • Normal Table Tennis rules except the server changes after every ball and you get a 2nd serve.

  • You draw cards from the deck during the game. The cards contain challenges you must comply with.

  • The cards have point values 1-9 which represent the difficulty factor of the challenge. These are important in some Game Modes.

  • The challenges accumulate so you have to play with multiple challenge cards as the game goes on.

  • If you draw a card you can't reasonably use with the card(s) already in your hand simply draw a new one.

Ok now we got the basics down so lets go...

The Fight

The simplest game mode to get things started!

1. Shuffle the deck and draw one (or more) cards before the match starts.2. Both players must play with the cards you drew for the whole match. For example: you draw two cards. One says that you must play with you weaker hand and the other that only your right foot can touch the floor.3. First to 11 points wins! GO!LEVEL THE PLAYING FIELD: Less skilled player can choose to ignore one card that was drawn.

The Arcade

Spice things up with the random element!

1. Both players start the match by drawing a card from the deck2. When a player reaches 4 points he/she draws a new card. And again when you get to 8 points.3. Tasks accumulate and you have to play with 3 different cards when you have 8 points. For example: your start with a card that says you must serve with your eyes closed. Your opponent draws a different card that says he/she must play with a book instead of a paddle. You win the first 4 points and must draw a new card with a task to play without a paddle. Now you must serve with your eyes closed and play with your bare hands.4. First to 11 points wins! GO!LEVEL THE PLAYING FIELD: Less skilled player starts with no card and draws only at 5 and 10 points.

The Co-Op

Make a temporary ceasefire and collaborate!

1. The goal is to keep the ball in play with as many tasks as you can.2. Start by drawing cards from the deck one by one. You can choose which player have to play with each task. Draw as many cards as you think you can survive together!3. When you are satisfied with your tasks start the rally. You both have to touch the ball at least 3 times during a rally. If you accomplish that, all the card points (valued 1-9) from active cards will be added to your total. After that you can draw more cards which will be added to your current total if completed.4. You have 5 tries to complete the 3 touches or the game is over and the final points will be tallied. You can adjust those numbers according to your skill level!END THE CEASEFIRE: Make it competitive and play against another team. Who can get the creaziest combo to work?

The Battle

This is the big one - Hold onto your bats!

1. Both players draw 12 cards from the deck and take a moment to choose 6 of those as their hand cards.2. Don't show your hand to you opponent and start the match normally.3. The cards have a point values (1-9). When you win points in normal play, you can choose to use those points to "buy" a card from your own hand TO "CURSE" YOUR OPPONENT so that he/she must play with that card you gave them. BUT YOU LOSE the points you used from your total. For example: you win the first two balls and use a card with a value of 2 - you now have 0 points but the opponent is CURSED with the task in the card (e.g. "serve with your eyes closed") for the rest of the game.4. If you run out of cards you can draw new ones from the deck one by one.5. First to 11 points wins. But remember this: the mission is not only to win but to absolutely HUMILIATE your opponent.Pro tip: at the start, choose cards that do not overlap with each other so you can pile up the curses for you opponent endlessly.EVEN THE PLAYINGFIELD: The less skilled player starts with 5 points in the bank.

The Gambler

High risk - High reward!

1. Both players start each round by drawing cards one by one.2. You can draw as many cards as you like and you have to play with them all for that round.3. Don't show you cards to your opponent before the round starts.4. Start the round! Each round to 5 points. Play 4 rounds.5. If you win the round you get all the points from the combined card values in your own hand, if you lose you get nothing. For example: if you draw The Cyclops (3p) and Concrete Shoes (4p) and reach 5 points in ping pong match playing with those, your total will be 3+4=7 for that round. You opponents gets zero points.MIX IT UP: Instead of playing 4 "rounds" you can agree on a point total to reach (e.g. first player to 20 combined points from card values). Of course you can also change to round length.

There are dozens of ways to play and use the cards - if you got a killer idea for a game mode (or for a new card) shoot us a message at [email protected]!
